Who is behind Emmanuel Darko?
I am Emmanuel Darko alias SCRIPTURES.
Share with us your experience in the second- cycle institution.
Well, life in Senior High School was not easy though but God saw me through. As a science student who wanted to always excel in class and get himself in the activities of PENSA and Scripture Union, a lot of energy had to move out from me. As the name is Toronto desert, Kumasi High School is not a school seniors and even friends will pamper you. You will have to work hard to achieve good grades. By the grace of God I was part of the SMQ contestants in 2014 for my school and also the Bible Study Coordinator for both PENSA and SU.
I came to UHAS because of the health programmes they offer.
Script, kindly tell us about Bachelor of Physician Assistantship.
The Bachelor of Physician Assistantship programme is a clinical and a 4-year degree programme that seeks to train people in the contemporary times to practice medicine and assist physicians. The programme is currently ran by some private and public universities and college of health, few of them are University of Health and Allied Sciences, Central University College and Kintampo College of Health.
How has campus been from first year to final year?
Hmm! In UHAS, life has not been that bad from levels 100 to 400. But as life is; everywhere you go, challenges will presents themselves as hurdles and it is your duty to jump over them and keep going. So in all campus life has been good.
What can you tell us about PENSA-UHAS?
Wow, I always want to say something about PENSA- UHAS and indeed a lot can be said about PENSA- UHAS but I will say PENSA- UHAS is a refiner. As 1st Corinthians 3 tells us about the work a refiner (fire), anyone who passes through PENSA- UHAS and avails him or herself will be refined for the very best in him or her to be revealed.
Amongst all the committees, why did you decide to join the Bible Study Committee?
Ok, personally from childhood, I have loved to read books and seek knowledge from teachers. When I was growing up I saw that there is no book that can give me the kind of knowledge I’m after except the bible so that heightened my love for the scripture. So with this heightened love for knowledge, I realized that it is a privilege to teach others to reach where you are, so it was like, when I came to PENSA- UHAS, I already knew the committee to join.
What is your take on this year’s theme and focus?
This year’s theme is a spirit-given theme and I really like it. It is time we visited the basics of our faith and clang to it because, that is all we need. By virtue of my office I receive some suggestions about some topics we should treat during Wednesday Bible Studies and I smile and say to myself, “let’s move on.” It is the basic message and that is all- “Jesus saves.”
Which part of the Bible really speaks to you?
Hebrews 4: 12 “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” This is the part of the Bible that speaks to me greatly.
What is your best colour and your favourite dish?
My best colour is white and my favourite dish is rice with kontomire stew.
Who is your favourite Bible character and why is he/she your favourite?
My favorite character in the Bible is Joseph, the son of Israel (Jacob). I like him because even in the testament that the spirit of the lord was not dwelling in men, he demonstrated the high level of morality-not subjecting his flesh to fornication. One thing that strikes me about him is his forgiving-spirit and the perspective he always came from.
Who inspires you and why does he/she inspire you?
Apostle Yaw Adjei Kwarteng, one of the Executivr Council Members of the Church of Pentecost inspires me a lot. Though he is an apostle I personally see him as a teacher. I have sat under his ministrations and whenever he is done, I ask myself was he there when the Bible was being written? He always boosts me to study more of the word of God. He is indeed one of our own!
Which sporting activity do you enjoy and what do you enjoy doing during your leisure time?
The sporting activity I enjoy is football and during my leisure time, I would like to play chess.
What is your vision and mission in life?
My vision is to make the whole world know that we don’t just exist for ourselves and my mission is to serve my generations with the gift the King has entrusted to me and bring people to Him and this example will cause others into service.
How did you become born-again?
From childhood I was in the church. When transition became necessary, I was led to say the prayer of confession and i received Christ as my Lord and personal Saviour.
What should we expect from you in the next five years?
Well, I can’t assuredly give you that because, just as the chess grandmaster moves his pieces that is how God orders our steps. Yes, plans can be hatched but everything rests with the Elohim.
SCRIPTURES, are you in a relationship?
No please; I’m not in a relationship.
What is your take on campus-dating?
Dating is a serious thing and must be considered very well before one decides whether to date or not. My humble opinion on dating on campus is readiness. It depends on the person in question. If you think you are ready then I will wish you all the best of luck but if you aren’t, then please advise yourself.
What do you look out for in your future wife?
With this question, I would like to take an attorney- Proverbs 31:10-31.
What’s your motivation in life?
My motivation in life is the word of God. The word of God keeps me going in all situations.
Please do you have any testimony to share?
No testimony to share for now but I believe by the time I leave the school my testimony will be ripe to share.
What improvement do you want to see in PENSA-UHAS?
That every member of the church will join a department in the church and become fully committed to the activities of the department and the church as a whole. It is a strategy for spiritual growth.
What proposal would you want to make to PENSA-UHAS?
I do not really have any in mind for now. But I must say that, i am happy with the current progress of the church and should any proposal come to mind, I would duly inform the leaders of the church.
What advice do you have for the youth?
My advice to the youth is to hold the Pentecostal heritage (the ways of the Holy Ghost) which our fathers knew, experienced, and taught us very well. If we do, we won’t miss our way.
