The Christian Journey: Episode 5

“And I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to myself; that where I am, there you may be also” (John 14:3).

Glory be to the Most High God, who has kept and shall continue to keep us by His sovereign power. This episode is centered on the fuel and its importance in the Christian journey. I pray the Father that He will give you more insight into this episode.

The Christian journey, like any other journey, requires fuel which provides the vehicle with adequate energy for the journey. The vehicle can be very strong with a very good driver but without a fuel, there would not be a journey. The quantity of fuel determines the distance to be covered; the more the fuel, the more distance one would cover on this journey. In this life long Christian journey, one requires the highest quantity of fuel to be able to reach the destination without any shortage. It is very impossible for Christians to please God without this fuel, in that, the Christian would not get to his destination without the fuel. This fuel for the Christian journey is FAITH.

The Christian life is supposed to be a life full of faith; every aspect of the Christian’s life is dependent on faith. We walk in the things of the Spirit and not things of this world. The things of this world which are perishable, not important and temporal are seen but the things of the Spirit are invaluable, indispensable and imperishable yet they are not seen. It is through faith that the Christian believes that though this things are not seen, they exist. The Christian life is expected to be based on spiritual conviction rather than a proof. We therefore, ought to walk by faith and not by sight, for this is the immeasurable fuel for the journey.

The faith of the Christian is very necessary and should not stand in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. We are justified by faith to have peace throughout our Christian life however, there may be tribulations but the believer through faith, rejoices even in this times; being conscious of the everlasting and imperishable things to come. Faith gives the Christian the hope of glory in all unpleasant circumstances. We must make every effort to keep this faith growing because without it, it will be very difficult to go through tribulation without losing focus.

It is very important that the Christian fights for an increase in faith. It is the driver that fuels the vehicle for the journey and the driver is the Holy Spirit. There is no faith without the Holy Spirit; constant fellowship with the Holy Spirit produces an increase in the faith of the believer. Knowing the will of God also increases the believer’s faith. The disciples were not able to perform a lot of the miracles that the Lord Jesus was performing whiles He was still with them on the earth. Your faith determines your stand in Christ Jesus. “And the apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith.” So the Lord said, ‘if you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea’ and it would obey you” (Luke 17:5-6). The disciples were not having that level of faith to perform such miracles however, when the Driver, the Holy Spirit came on the day of Pentecost, they were highly fueled; filled with power, boldness, faith and they performed great and innumerable miracles.

The kingdom of God is not seen therefore, one needs faith to enter into this kingdom. The word of God is preached but it takes faith for one to believe what he has heard from the Word of God, that there is really a GOD who is the Almighty. There is salvation when one believes in the Gospel of Christ being preached. Brethren, there is no salvation without faith:

  1. Without faith, it is impossible to please God, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him (Hebrew 11:6).
  2. So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17).
  3. For by grace you have been save through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God (Ephesians 2:8).

May Jehovah God cause an increase in your faith and keep you under constant fellowship with His Spirit.
